Background
Principal Names: ABC20, ABCB1, CD243, CLCS, EC 3.6.3.44, GP170, MDR1, P-GP, PGY1; The human multidrug resistance gene MDR1 encodes a membrane-bound protein, referred to as P-glycoprotein that acts as a pump to extrude toxins from cells. The 3' untranslated region (3'UTR) of the human MDR1 mRNA is very AU-rich (70%). MDR1 is a member of the super family of ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporters. MDR1 is a member of the MDR/TAP subfamily. It is responsible for decreased drug accumulation in multidrug-resistant cells and often mediates the development of resistance to anticancer drugs. This protein also functions as a transporter in the blood-brain barrier. It is expressed in human liver, kidney, small intestine and brain. It is localized to human chromosome 7q21.1.

Antigen
Synthetic peptide - KLH conjugated corresponding to cytoplasmic domain of human ATP-Binding Cassette, Sub-Family B (Mdr/Tap), Member 1 (Abcb1)
